US Embassy Attack in Yemen, 16 Dead

WED SEP 167 2008 — A massive explosion at the US Embassy in Yemen. Gunman shot police guards in front of the embassy before a suicide bomber attack. Sixteen people, including six soldiers, six militants and four bystanders killed in a twin car bombing. A gun battle followed for 10 to 15 minutes. Several explosions followed the primary explosion. Multiple casualties.  Islamic Jihad in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened similar attacks on other embassies including Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
