A six-car accident with one car on top of another caused at least three injuries on Rand Road just west of Arlington Heights Road Thursday morning about 8 a.m. People were lying in three lanes of Rand Road, but injuries were apparently not life threatening. No extrication rescue was required for this accident. The multi-car accident was a rear-end accident caused by one car running into the last car of a line waiting at a red light at Rand and Arlington Heights Road.
All lanes of Rand Road were blocked and traffic was backed up to at least the Route 53 overpass. Traffic was a mess as some drivers were cutting through shopping centers and gas stations to bypass the traffic jam caused by the accident. Arlington Heights Police were diverting traffic via Chestnut and Rand intersection and the Techny and Rand Road intersection.
