Amazing Dog’s Trek: Family Dog from Tampa, Florida Found in Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois

DOG MISSING ABOUT TWO YEARS
‘Sam-I-Am,’ a 5-year-old Golden Retreiver missing from a South Tampa, Florida home since a hurricane in 2004 knocked down a backyard fence, was found on Circle Court in Johnsburg, Illinois [MAP/SATELLITE].

Veterinarians from the McHenry County Animal Shelter scanned for the $40 microchip that is implanted in the scruff of a dog’s neck. They were surprised to find that the veterinarian who implanted the microchip was from South Tampa, Florida — about 1200 miles away [SIMULATED TREK].

Dog owner Alice Baines immediately flew to O’Hare International Airport to pick up Sam, who immediately ran across the floor and rested his head on the arm of his owner.
