A weak cold front is arriving in northern Illinois, but temperatures will continue to be well above average. Precipitation which involved some lightning and thunder in northwest and north-central Illinois is diminishing as it moves west to east. By the time the thundershowers reach Arlington Heights and northwest Cook County about 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the precipitation may only be light rain or sprinkles. If there is no precipitation today, the current streak of dry days will reach 12 — tying the most recent long dry period from March 14-25, 2018.
