Arlington Heights Fire Department responded about 3:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 to a report of a vehicle fire threatening a home in the block of 100 South Evergreen Avenue near downtown Arlington Heights. The vehicle fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters before the flames had a chance to begin to burn the residential structure.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in 4 minutes and 45 seconds and reported a fully-involved vehicle ablaze next to an occupied residence. Fire crews quickly confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated the home, but two dogs remained unaccounted for. Arlington Heights firefighters simultaneously extinguished the vehicle fire and executed a rapid primary search of the occupancy, quickly locating and rescuing the two dogs from the home. The incident was contained, and the fire did not spread into the building’s interior. There was only minor exterior damage to the residence resulting from the car fire.
Arlington Heights Firefighters were assisted by the Palatine and Rolling Meadows Fire Departments. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Arlington Heights Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team.
