Utility Pole Fire and Transformer Explosion on Rand Road Just East of Dundee Rd., Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:36 AM Monday to hey report of a utility pole on fire with a transformer exploded on ran Road just east of Dundee Road, near McDonald’s. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a utility pole and the power lines were on fire and then a transformer exploded, starting the grass on fire below the lines.

First firefighters on the scene requested that Com Ed expedite, and that they did have a confirmed fire on the utility pole and on the power lines.

Rand Road is closed in both directions between Dundee Road and Winslowe.
