The Arlington Heights Police Department officially opened the new police station on Saturday morning December 22, 2018. The new $27.9 million station, built between Village Hall and Fire Station 1 on the same site as the previous police headquarters built in the 1970s. The new 2-story, 70,500-square-foot building features an indoor parking garage for active beat police vehicles, improved office area design, additional interview rooms, training areas, a shooting simulator, a wider and deeper firing range, a fitness center, evidence intake room, a new jail, and more. The facility has improved security, featuring the front lobby and welcoming front meeting area that is closed off and secured from the operational areas in the rest of the police station.
