The Bishop Ford Freeway runs east then south from I-57 to Cottage Grove Avenue to Stony Island Avenue to IL-394 where the Kingery Expressway (I-80/94) runs east to the Illinois border, and the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) runs west. Therefore, the segment of the Bishop Ford Freeway north of the Kingery/I-294/I-80 interchange is I-94 and the segment south of the interchange is IL-394
The Bishop Ford Freeway continues south as IL-394, changing to a surface highway and terminating into Dixie Highway (Illinois Route 1) south of Crete, Illinois.
The Bishop Ford Freeway was formerly known as the Calumet Expressway.
