Seven Carson’s department stores in Illinois, including the store at Schaumburg’s Streets of Woodfield, will be among 42 stores closing across the United States, according to parent company, Bon-Ton Stores Inc.

“As part of the comprehensive turnaround plan we announced in November, we are taking the next steps in our efforts to move forward with a more productive store footprint,” said Bill Tracy, president and chief executive officer for The Bon-Ton Stores.

Carson’s stores on the list to close in Illinois include …

a Carson’s clearance center in the Village Plaza in Morton Grove
a Carson’s clearance center in the Aurora Shopping Center in Aurora
a Carson’s in Riverside Plaza in Chicago
a Carson’s in Danville
a Carson’s in DeKalb, and
a Bergner’s store in Peoria.

Suburban Carson’s remaining open are located at Randhurst Village in Mount Prospect, Bloomingdale, Lombard, and Vernon Hills.

Carson’s in Mount Prospect is located at 1025 Center Drive
Mount Prospect, IL 60056 in Randhurst Village.

The Bon-Ton stores has reported that a total of 47 stores will close in early 2018 — previously communicating cuts as part of a “store rationalization” program.

“We remain focused on executing our key initiatives to drive improved performance in an effort to strengthen our capital structure to support the business going forward.”

— Bill Tracy
