News helicopter crews caught a police chase Thursday morning that started in northwest Indiana and ended on the south side of Chicago near 93rd Street and May.

The chase started with police in Lake County, Indiana, pursuing a stolen black Mercedes that was taken near I-394 and Glenwood/Dyer Road about 8:48 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.

The Mercedes vehicle was pursued by Lake County Sheriff’s officers when the two suspects abandoned the car in the area of I-94 and 167th Street and carjacked a white pickup truck with Goodyear markings on the doors.

ISP troopers joined the pursuit after the carjacking. The pursuit ended when two people were taken into custody at 10:18 a.m. near 93rd and May. One or two vehicle occupants exited on the passenger side and were seen on the ground on the passenger side of the pickup truck.

Two Illinois State Trooper sedans were immediately behind the pickup truck for most of the chase in Chicago’s south side. Chicago Police officers assisted with the arrest.
