Palatine police responded about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday January 23, 2018 to a report of shots fired in the block of 1300 North Rohlwing Road near Palatine High School.
Police are investigating what they described as a possible gang-related shooting or shots fired incident. A 9-1-1 caller described hearing several “pops” near the location where some people were fighting. Police say they found evidence to confirm that gunshots were fired.
No injuries were initially reported. Police were investigating the east end of the neighborhood west of Palatine High School along Home Avenue and in line with the north end of Palatine High School property as late as 6:30 p.m. There are soccer fields and a reservoir near the area west of Palatine High School and south of Deer Grove Centre shopping center, but the neighborhood was clear of any investigation operations by 7:00 p.m.
