Wind Advisory in Effect from Monday 3:00 PM CT Until Tuesday 6:00 AM; Cold Weather to Follow

Strong winds this afternoon through tonight… A strong low pressure system is forecast to impact Chicagoland weather from Monday December 4, 2017 into Tuesday December 5, 2017. The primary impact for the next 24 hours continues to be wind, with 40-45 mph gusts from the afternoon into tonight and possibly Tuesday. For the period Monday evening into early overnight Tuesday, gusts up to 50 mph are likely. The peak period of highest winds is likely to be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday.

The actual cold front with wind shift from southwest to west winds and initial temperature drop is forecast to occur between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

A Wind Advisory has been issued as a LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM associated cold front will bring a sharp transition from the recent prolonged mild weather to below normal temperatures by midweek. Near to record high temperatures are forecast for Monday, but an extended cold period may last beyond midweek.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 3 PM CST this afternoon to 6 AM CST Tuesday.

* TIMING…Mid-afternoon through tonight.

* WINDS…Gusts of 45 to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS…Driving can be made difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Small branches can be broken off trees and
loose objects may be blown.

Instructions: A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult…especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
