Barrington Police Department sent out an alert after Barrington School District 220 informed their community about a “stranger danger” incident that occurred Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. A middle school student was approached near a bus stop in South Barrington, by a Hispanic male in a green Pontiac. The man asked if he could give the student a ride to school. The student replied no, said the bus was coming, and took out his cell phone. The man then drove away.
The student was not harmed and attended school as scheduled. Police were contacted and they are investigating the incident.
Barrington 220 reminded parents to discuss stranger danger with children,of any age. Children should be reminded to always be aware of their surroundings and to walk in groups as much as possible. If a child is approached by a stranger, he/she should seek help immediately. Remember to report any suspicious activity to your school and police department.
