Racine County Sheriff’s Deputies and Paris Fire Department firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:05 PM Sunday August 13, 2017 to a report of a mass shooting incident at Great Lakes Dragaway, 18411 1st Street (County Highway KR) Union Grove, Wisconsin. Racine County Sheriff responded to a report of at least three people shot near the dragstrip.

An early report noted that Racine County Sheriff possibly has one suspect in custody, but this is apparently false information. Kenosha County Sheriff is also assisting Racine County Sheriff’s deputies.

Police are active in the area for investigation and possibly looking for suspect(s). There were also early reports that a suspect was in custody.

A MABAS Division 101 EMS Box (Life Safety Box) was activated about 7:05 p.m. Sunday

County Highway KR is shut down from US 45 to I-94.

Medevac helicopters were dispatched to the scene near the main entrance to the property, where EMS staging was also located.

Early reports were that possibly three people were shot with life threatening injuries.

There are early unconfirmed reports that three people were shot at point blank range.

Police are still searching for a suspect described as a male/black in his 20s, 5’11” to 6’2″ … 150 to 160 LBS, wearing a blue T-shirt, a black hoodie black. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a black vehicle — possibly a Chevy. The weapon used was possibly a handgun.

A.J. Bayatpour, a reporter at WITI, FOX 6 Milwaukee reported Sunday night that sheriff’s deputies told him that the Great Lakes Dragaway was being evacuated. Another witness at the scene reported that people and vehicles were being videotaped as people exited the property.

A third alarm for extra ambulances was requested at about 8:21 p.m. by Paris Fire Department. Bristol, Caledonia, Salem, South Shore, Twin Lake, Newport Township FPD (Illinois) firefighter/paramedics and others have been dispatched to the scene.

Extra ambulances are likely being dispatched for secondary crowd evacuation-related issues, but this was not confirmed as of 8:25 p.m. No confirmed count of gunshot victims was officially available as of 8:30 p.m.
