GRAPHIC LANGUAGE: YouTube motovlogger documented his own pursuit of a hit-and-run and apparently impaired driver near the 215 Freeway in Colton, California (near San Bernardino).

A YouTube channel publisher, known as Dick Danger, witnessed a hit-and-run by a driver that appeared to be impaired in Colton, California near San Bernardino, California. “Dick Danger” who keeps his real name anonymous, stopped at the scene where the impaired driver stopped after rear-ending another vehicle.

When “Dick Danger” walked up to the scene, the driver of a black Mercedes sedan, with severe front-end damage, took off. “Dick Danger” followed him while driving his motorcycle.

The Mercedes driver briefly stopped at a veterinary clinic, then got back on the freeway. “Dick Danger” — a self-described motovlogger continued to follow the Mercedes.

At one point “Dick Danger” attempted to catch the attention of a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer, but a prolonged stop would have meant letting the Mercedes driver get away

At one point, part of the Mercedes bumper fell off onto the road in “Danger’s path. Both vehicles were shown on video running red lights.

Eventually the driver stopped on the side of a road in Moreno Valley and got out of the vehicle.

“I’m saying I was wrong man. What else you want me to say?” the driver says to Dick Danger.

“I wanted you to stop, you hit two cars, bro,” Danger replied.

“You’re right man, you’re right,” said the suspected impaired driver.

When the impaired driver walked toward “Dick Danger”, the motovlogger told him to stay back.

Eventually a CHP officer arrived and detained him for Colton police.

The Mercedes driver was later identified as Nathanial Sylvester, 62. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. dick Danger reported that a CHP officer detained the driver until Colton Police arrived to arrest him.

In most cases when you witness a crime, police say be a good witness and call 911, but they don’t recommend getting involved — especially in a pursuit. A number of dangerous situations are documented during the citizen pursuit.

Dick Danger told Eyewitness News in California that he had to help.

“I felt like I did the right thing, I really did.”

“I really didn’t want to chase the guy, I didn’t want to get involved. But as soon as he took off on that freeway after hitting multiple cars I knew I had to do the right thing and chase him down before he hurt or killed anybody else.”
