Woman Shot, Killed at House Party on 11th Street Near Washington Park, Waukegan

Waukegan police responded about 4:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 to a report of a shooting in the block of 1600 11th Street. When police arrived they discovered signs of a shooting scene in the street, but no victim.

A short time later the police department received a call from an area hospital stating that a gunshot victim had been brought to hospital’s Emergency Room, where the victim was pronounced dead. The victim is described as a 24-year-old female.

Waukegan Police Department reported they are withholding the identity of the victim until proper notification can be brought to the victim’s family.

Detectives from the Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation’s Division are actively investigating the fatal shooting. Currently Waukegan police detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation at a house party in the 1600 block of 11th Street.

The Waukegan Police Department reported they believe the shooting incident is isolated and that there is no threat to the community.
