Barrington High School Student Dies After Crash on Plum Tree Rd Near Rock Ridge Rd, Barrington Hills

Barrington Hills police and Barrington-Countryside FPD firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:05 p.m. Saturday March 4, 2017 to a report of a one-vehicle crash with entrapment on Plum Tree Road near Rock Ridge Road.

According to Barrington Hills police, a 21-year-old Rolling Meadows man was driving the vehicle westbound on Plum Tree Road with two passengers in the vehicle when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree near Rock Ridge Road.

One victim was entrapped in the vehicle, and was extricated by 9:33 p.m. Following extrication, the female victim was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. She was pronounced dead the following day. Rebecca Soderman died at 11:48 p.m. Sunday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Police said the Rolling Meadows man and a second passenger, a 16-year-old Barrington girl, were transported with apparent minor injuries to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

Barrington Hills police said the crash is under investigation. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was at the scene for an extended crash investigation. The speed limit posted on westbound Plum Tree Road is 25 MPH.

Firefighter/paramedics from Barrington, Cary and Fox River Grove assisted Barrington-Countryside firefighter/paramedics.

Barrington High School Principal Stephen McWilliams sent an email to parents notifying them of Rebecca Soderman’s death, and offered counseling support from Barrington Unit District 220.
