Fox Lake police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:38 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 to a report of a body found at the shoreline of Nippersink Lake near the 200 block of Leisure Drive.
Officials immediately discovered the body of a woman and the body of a small dog at the shoreline of Nippersink Lake near the address in Fox Lake. Two divers wearing dry suits went into the water and placed the remains into body bags, according to Battalion Chief Tom Preibis of the Fox Lake Fire Protection District. A leash was also found, but it was attached to the dog.
Police report the case is an isolated incident and that no community threat is present.
An investigation is underway, and officials reported more information will be available following the identification of the woman and the notification of her family.
