Waukegan Police responded about 12:35 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 to a report that a woman was shot during an attempted vehicular hijacking in the block of 500 Judge Avenue, south-central Waukegan.

Police learned that the victim pulled her vehicle to the curb in the block of 500 Judge Avenue, just northwest of Hyde Park Elementary School, and noticed a light-colored sedan pull up behind her.

Two men exited the light-colored sedan and attempted to force their way into the victim’s car. When they failed to enter the victim’s vehicle, one of the offenders shot the victim while she was sitting in her car, police said.

The woman suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Waukegan police said they believe the suspects fled the scene southbound on Judge Avenue in the sedan. Last weekend two people were shot and killed in Waukegan. A suspect, Undra Bailey, was arrested in connection with the case on South Jackson Street.
