Palm Beach County has begun to get hit by strong outerbands of rain as Hurricane Matthew moves further west toward the Florida coast (NBC affiliate WPTV).
Florida Gov. Rick Scott updated citizens on the disaster preparedness for Florida.
Winds are forecast at 100 to 150 MPH. The forecast winds can destroy homes and even entire neighborhoods.
The primary concern Thursday is Palm Beach, Florida and then cities north of Palm Beach — including Boynton Beach, Jupiter, Fort Pierce, St Lucie, Vero Beach.
