Apple customer who immediately downloaded Apple’s latest iOS 10 software on Tuesday discovered a major bug that caused their iPhones to be disabled. Customers complained the lastest update “bricked” their iPhones and iPads. Bricking refers making a phone about as useful as a brick.
To fix the Apple Devices after the failed update, customers had to plug devices into computers and connect to the Apple iTunes program on a Mac to restore the iOS system.
Bugs like these or less severe bugs that still allow phones to function are common when Apple releases and new major update. People that need functioning phones are advised to let those that enjoy tinkering with their iPhones be involved in the bug-fixing process first.
Apple iPhone and iPad users that need a functioning phone should not update to iOS 10 and should ignore update notices until the bugs are worked out.
