Police responded to a knife attack in Russell Square on Wednesday that police described was “spontaneous” with victims “selected at random” — an incident in which police also said “mental health appears to be a significant factor.”

The woman who was killed was apparently in her 60s. The injured people were from Britain, America, Israel and Australia.

Metropolitan Police arrested a 19-year-old Norwegian national of Somali origin. Police say there is no evidence of terror radicalization.

London police say a woman has died and five others were injured in a knife attack in a central part of the city. One man was arrested. Police say mental health appears to be a factor in the attack.
