Kelly Bowman takes us takes us to a farmer’s market and gives tips on how to make sure what we buy is safe.

Wash produce carefully and thoroughly in warm water because the cow farm might be upstream from the vegetable farm.

Milk and cheeses should be refrigerated as soon as possible after buying them from farmers that have kept the products on ice while on display.

Ciders, juices and milk should be pasteurized, especially if destined for consumption by certain groups — small children, pregnant woman, people who are immunocompromised.
