Volcanic Ash from Aleutian Islands Pavlof Volcano Presents Danger to Airplanes

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the Pavlof Volcano, located about 600 miles southwest of Anchorage, erupted Sunday at 4:18 p.m. local time (8:18 p.m. ET). The agency reported the eruption also led to tremors on the ground.
