While filming the line of planes all stacked up during a ground hold in Atlanta on August 18, 2015, YouTube publisher Jake Perkins happened to capture a direct lightning strike on a Delta Airlines Boeing 737.

There were no reports of any injuries when a Boeing 737 was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. The aircraft was hit on the top of the fuselage in front of the tail fin. The wheels under the landing gears at the middle of the plane in contact with the west pavement showed arcing during the lightning strike. They also appeared to glow for some time after the lightning strike.
