One Drunk Secret Service Agent is Second-in-Command on President’s Protective Detail; 2 Involved in Crash into White House Barricade Last Week

The department of homeland security is investigating another incident of misconduct by two senior secret service agents, white house officials say.

Allegedly, after a night of drinking last week, two US Secret Service agents drove through security tape and then crashed into a barricade at one of the entrances to the White House grounds.

Washington media bureaus are reporting the two men are Mark Connolly, the second-in-command on President Obama’s personal protective detail, and George Ogilvie, a top supervisor in the agency’s Washington field office.

The security tape was at the location to protect a possible crime scene after a woman got out of her car about 10:30 p.m. on March 4, 2015, through a package on the ground, and told guards, “It’s a bomb” before fleeing the scene.

The guards and security personnel were waiting for a bomb squad to arrive when the agents’ vehicle crashed through the crime scene. The identity of the driver has not yet been revealed. Police reports reported that officers suspected the two men were drunk and wanted to arrest them and give them breathalyzer tests, but a supervisor told them to let the men go on their way and return home.

The bomb squad later determined that the package was not an explosive. The license plate of the vehicle the woman was driving was recorded and the woman was interviewed, and is under investigation.
