Verizon Wants AOL’s Programmatic Advertising? Yahoo! Does Too

A purchase of AOL by Verizon may seem odd, but it could be a relatively cheap way to boost Verizon’s video business. But it could leave Yahoo searching for a new dance partner.

There is no commitment declared, but Verizon reported to be interested in AOL’s programmatic advertising technology — the automated buying and selling of ads online. The technology could be paired with a future online-video product, according to anonymous sources.

There is already a mobile AOL | Verizon content link … and future plans could be limited to a joint venture.
