Mount Prospect Woman Arrested for DUI After Hit-and-Run that Injured Illinois State Trooper on I-294 Tri-State

Leslie W. Thurow 59,, of Mount Prospect faces charges of aggravated leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, aggravated DUI, and aggravated DUI involving personal injury after she struck an Illinois state trooper who was on a traffic stop on I-294 near St Charles Road near Elmhurst and Northlake. Thurow continued driving northbound on I-294 and hit an Acura near Grand Avenue and rolled over. The Acura was carrying seven people, who were all reported injured. Northlake Fire Department activated an EMS Box to request assistance from local fire department for extra ambulances. Northbound and southbound lanes of I-294 were shut down during rescue operations.

The Illinois State trooper is in stable condition with injuries to his legs and ribs after surgery Sunday morning. The extent of injuries of the other seven people is unknown.

Police said that the District 15 trooper was conducting the stop in the vicinity of northbound I-294 and St. Charles Road near Elmhurst at 2:46 p.m. Saturday, when he was struck and thrown by Thurow’s Honda Accord.

Thurow was arrested immediately after the crash with the Acura.

The driver and passengers were among the seven injured in the Acura that were transported to local hospitals.

Thorow had a bond hearing schedule Sunday afternoon. Bail was set at $450,000.
