Man, 40’s, Killed in Pedestrian-Metra Train Incident on UP Northwest Line Near Lee St, Des Plaines

Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:14 PM Tuesday to a report of a person hit by a train at Miner Street and Lee Street Des Plaines , IL. Police first on the scene relayed a report that a female victim was hit by a train. The victim was killed in the incident, and was under the train about 100 feet east of Lee Street on the Union Pacific Northwest Line.

Police later released information that a male/white victim in his 40’s was found without signs of life under the train after the report of a pedestrian hit by a train.

Witnesses reported that the victim stepped off the train platform in front of the train as the train approached the Des Plaines train station.

The train involved in the incident was train #629, which is scheduled to stop in Des Plaines at 5:08 p.m. after departing Ogilvie Transportation Center at 4:39 p.m.

Metra Train #629’s scheduled stop in Arlington Heights is 5:22 p.m.
