Three Teens Attack Man, 87, Who Was Practicing Golf at Wing Park, Elgin

Three teenagers attacked an 87-year-old man, striking him in the face and head, and stealing his golf clubs about 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Wing Park, in Elgin. The three male teens — two age 15 and one age 16 fled the area with the man’s golf clubs, but were found by Elgin police officers near Clifford Court.

The man was treated at the scene for his injuries and did not require hospital care.

The man was able to escape further attack by driving away from the crime scene.

The teens were charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of robbery of a victim over 60 and one count of aggravated battery of a victim over 60. The were transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center, where a detention hearing will be held Sunday.

Wing Park is just west of the Fox River and Route 31, and just south of Big Timber Road in Elgin, and near the Fox River Trail bike path that runs from Algonquin to Aurora.
