Grayslake firefighters responded about 4:30 p.m. to fuel truck fire at Countryside Landfill, 31725 Route 83. Ivanhoe Road (Route 83).
A large smoke header was visible for miles, and Route 83 was blocked while firefighters fought the fire and/or waited for it to burn out. Many drivers had to turn around after heading a long way down Route 83, because of road blocks.
As of about three hours after the incident when the timeline was viewed at 7:15 p.m., the most recent tweet from Grayslake Fire Department’s official Twitter account (posted June 1, 2014) was displayed as follows …

Lake County Sheriff’s official Twitter account and Facebook page also did not mention the Countryside landfill incident today.
In April 2014 Grayslake Fire Department did not post any update on Twitter during a Hazmat incident at A1 Cleaners, 322 East Belvidere Road, which closed Belvidere Road (The Cardinal Spill or No Spill? Fire departments from New York City (FDNY), Los Angeles Fire Department (City), Los Angeles Fire Department (County), and Chicago (CFD) have shown a greater commitment to inform the public of incidents in their jurisdictions via their official Twitter accounts.
