Niles police responded about 2:30 AM Thursday to an armed robbery at Ballard Road and Milwaukee Avenue in Niles , IL. Police received a report of an armed robbery of a female victim. The suspects were described as two male/Hispanic suspects wearing dark clothing and driving a white Ford Expedition. The suspects took the victim’s purse and cash.
A Cook County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle in the area near Northwest Highway and Central Road in Chicago and called for back up from area police officers at about 2:57 a.m. Police were involved in a foot chase and then a K-9 search with Chicago police, Niles police, Illinois State Police and Cook County Sheriff’s police also involved in the search. As of about 3:30 a.m., three suspects were in custody and two suspects were at large.
At least one of the suspects was reported to have had a weapon in his possession.
The crime is reported to have occurred at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014.
