High School Homicide: Stabbing of Junior at Milford High School Possibly Related to Prom Date Rejection

A 16-year-old girl was stabbed to death inside a Connecticut high school Friday, and police were investigating whether a boy attacked her because she turned down an invitation to be his date at a school dance.

Milford Connecticut police and firefighter/paramedics responded just after 7:15 a.m. Friday to a report of a stabbing at Jonathan Law High School

A 16-year-old female student, Maren Sanchez, was found with life-threatening injuries by a female staff member, who also witnessed a portion of the assault. She and other staff members attempted life-saving measure on the student, and when paramedics arrived they also attempted life-saving measures on the student. The student was transportd to Bridgeport Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:43 a.m.

The suspect was taken into custody by members of the high school staff who took him to the administrative office. The school resource officer was contacted and the suspect was immediately handcuffed as he was placed in police custody.

A prom-date rejection rumor is being investigated by police in the fatal Connecticut school stabbing of high school junior Maren Sanchez.

Friends, family and staff at the high school described Maren Sanchez as “an Angel” a model student, and member of The National Honor Society.
