The black box stops sending detection pings after 30 days; plus clues in the plane’s disappearance.

On March 8, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER disappeared with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board. Its last contact with air traffic control was 40 minutes after take-off at an altitude of about 35,000 feet. The aircraft’s position was outside the range of commercial radar.

Malaysia’s air force chief has previously said military radar suggested the aircraft might have made a U-turn.

A search and rescue mission is ongoing in the Gulf of Thailand, Strait of Malacca, and the South China Sea.

Two Recent Leads Failed

Oil slick wasn’t from the missing flight

Yellow object floating on the sea’s surface was not from the missing flight

Family members say cell phones of victims have been ringing for days after crash. (If they destroyed or submerged in water, wouldn’t the calls from family members go straight to voice mail?)

There is some speculation today that offenders may have turned off all locator signals, flown the aircraft at a low altitude, and landed at an undisclosed location.

Two passengers who boarded the aircraft used stolen passports with coordinated air ticket purchases by an Iranian man known as “Mr Ali”, which raises suspicion of terrorism or other suspicious activity.

The Flight departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8, 2014 at 00:41 local time and was scheduled to land at Beijing Capital International Airport at 06:30 a.m. The aircraft’s last known position was 6°55′15″N 103°34′43″E.

Submarines and ships searching for the black box need to be within 5-10 miles to “hear” the beacon coming from the black box.
