Four Indianapolis Police SWAT Officers Shot While Serving Drug Warrant on South State Ave, Indianapolis

Multiple Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department SWAT officers about 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 were shot while serving a drug warrant to a “high-risk felon” in the 1600 block of South State Avenue in Indianapolis.

All injuries are indicated to be non-life-threatening. One police officer was shot in the arm, one was shot in the leg, one was shot in a bullet proof vest and another took shrapnel to the face. IMPD said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

One officer was transported to IU Health Methodist and was treated and released. Another officer was transported to Eskenazi Health.

The other two police officers were treated at the scene, and released.

Police sources confirmed the suspect was shot and killed after refusing to surrender.
