Man Causes Disturbance, Kicks Officer, and Is Arrested for Battery at Jewel/Osco, S Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 4:18 PM Monday to a report of an unwanted subject at the Jewel/Osco, 1860 South Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that on this current date and other days the male subject has caused disturbances in area Jewel stores — including threatening customers. Officers approached the man as he was leaving the store.

The man threatened the police officers, claimed to have weapons, and refused to identify himself.

Police were able to identify the man as David J Grata, age 48. Officers determined Grata had no property on his person. During the encounter Grata kicked an arresting officer’s shin, but caused no injury.

Grata is described as homeless, but had a recent address in the 0-99 block of South Elm Street, Mount Prospect. He was charged with battery and obstruction. Court date is March 5, 2014.
