Vehicle Burglary in an Apartment Parking Lot on South Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report on Friday of a vehicle burglary in the block of 2300 South Goebbert Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized a blue 2005 Acura MDX. Offender(s) removed a black leather briefcase (valued at $350). The briefcase contained paperwork, spare keys, and airline tickets.

The victim approached his car and noticed the dome light on and trunk ajar, but told police it didn’t occur to him that the vehicle may have been burglarized. The victim went to work, and a neighbor found the briefcase near a dumpster in the apartment complex. The neighbor contacted the victim, who retrieved the briefcase and reported that nothing was missing from the briefcase.

There were no signs of forcible entry to the vehicle.

The crime is reported to have occurred between Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. and Friday, January 24, 2014 at 7:50 a.m.
