With the Detroit Auto Show underway, and the Chicago Auto Show less than one month away; here’s a little 1967 Arlington Cardinal auto show with a 1967 Cougar XR7.

The Mercury Cougar muscle car was introduced in 1967. The body lasted only until 1968. The Cougar was introduced with the The Work Song by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. The Cougar was a sales success from its introduction and helped the Lincoln-Mercury Division’s 1967 sales figures substantially. The Cougar was also Motor Trend magazine’s Car of the Year for 1967.

This blue Mercury Cougar was spotted at Pep Boys on Rand Road, just east of Arlington Heights Road in the summer of 2012. Here’s a little video to warm you up. How about a suggestion. Turn down the Cicada volume, and play the two videos together.

The Work Song was introduced by Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass in 1966 and was successful like the Mercury Cougar, reaching #18 in the US and #2 in Adult Contemporary.
