Route 22 Shut Down After Vehicle Hit Gas Pipe and Caused A Natural Gas Leak, Long Grove/Kildeer

Long Grove firefighter/paramedics, Kildeer police and Lake County Sheriff’s police responded about 7:28 AM Monday to a natural gas leak on Route 22 near Old McHenry Road. Long Grove firefighter/paramedics discovered a large gas leak on Route 22 west of Old McHenry Road after a vehicle slid off the road and ruptured a pipe. The vehicle that hit the pipe was no longer on scene.

Leak is a good distance from any buildings, and a “gas leak” response was not request ed as of 7:31 AM.

Police are shutting down Route 22 in both directions west of Old McHenry Road.
