Independent Traffic Reporter, Caran Johnson (@Scancouver) Unknowingly Live Tweets Crash that Killed Husband

A 47-year-old man died after the car he was driving crossed from the north lanes to the south on I-205 and hit a pick-up truck. His wife — ScanCouver on Twitter(protected), at first unaware of his death — tweeted alerts on the crash. KOIN’s Joel Iwanaga reporting. (KOIN 6 News).

Caran Johnson, of Salmon Creek, Washingon near Vancouver, and well known on Twitter for her tweets on Clark County traffic under the Twitter account @ScanCouver, reported on a severe vehicle crash, and eventually reported that she unknowingly live-tweeted her husband’s death Wednesday afternoon.

Her final Tweet regarding the crash, “it’s him. he died.”

Caran Johnson began tweeting about the two-vehicle collision shortly after it happened at 1:41 p.m. As the information of the incident unfolded, she tweeted that she was growing concerned that her husband might be involved because he wasn’t answering his phone and he was late coming home from work.
