A large area of deep snowfall hit areas of Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan the day before Thanksgiving. Up to eight inches of snow fell in the region.
The heavy snow wasn’t any surprise to the National Weather Service or the residents of Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan who know that when there is a strong northwest wind off of Lake Michigan, there is heavy snow.
