New Fox News Central Time Lineup: Van Susteren at 6, O’Reilly at 7, Kelly at 8, Hannity at 9 while Shep Smith Breaks In

Fox News has announced a refreshed primetime lineup that will launch in October 2013. Fox News “Studio B” with Shepard Smith at 5:30 PM ET/6:30 PM CT is shutting down, with Shep returning from shoulder surgery in six weeks as Chief News Anchor and Managing Editor. Shepard Smith will be available throughout prime time to interrupt with the latest breaking news via the FOX News Deck.

“On the Record” with Greta Van Susteren will air at 7 PM ET/6 PM CT.

“The O’Reilly Factor” will maintain its time slot with Bill O’Reilly at 8 PM ET/7 PM CT.

The Kelly File with Megyn Kelly will debut at 9 PM ET/8 PM CT in the slot formerly occupied by Hannity, who is moving to 10 PM ET/9 PM CT.

Hannity with Sean Hannity will air at 10 PM ET/9 PM CT.

Greta Van Susteren graduated from Xavier High School in Appleton in 1972 and the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1976, where she studied geography and economics. She later earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. In 2002, Van Susteren switched to the Fox News Channel from CNN, where she was involved in extensive coverage of the O.J. Simpson trial.

Bill O’Reilly is a registered “Independent” (See: Political views of Bill O’Reilly) and characterizes himself as a traditionalist, but many view him as a conservative commentator. O’Reilly is the author of ten books. O’Reilly says he doesn’t believe the truth has label, whether they’re conservative, liberal, or libertarian.

Megyn Kelly previously hosted America Live on weekdays from the network’s New York City headquarters. Prior to that, she co-hosted America’s Newsroom along with Bill Hemmer. Kelly was an associate in the Chicago office of law firm Bickel & Brewer LLP, during which time she co-wrote an article for the American Bar Association’s journal, Litigation, called “The Conflicting Roles of Lawyer as Director”. Kelly later joined Jones Day for nine years, where she served as an attorney for Experian.

Sean Hannity is a conservative political pundit who will continue his format of interviewing guests and providing his own commentary. Hannity has written three New York Times–bestselling books: Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty over Liberalism, Deliver Us from Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism, and Conservative Victory: Defeating Obama’s Radical Agenda. Sean Hannity also hosts a conservative political talk show that features Hannity’s opinions and ideology related to current issues and politicians. Hannity dropped out of New York University and Adelphi University.

Shepard Smith will continue to anchor at 3PM ET/2PM CT with the debut of “Shepard Smith Reporting” — newly designed one-hour program in a newly designed studio known as The FOX News Deck. The new studio with The FOX News Deck and Smith’s dedicated team of producers and information specialists is designed to be able to interrupt all programming in an instant to bring viewers real-time news as it develops. The newly FOX News Deck with emphasis on social media will fuses coordinate real-time news feeds, digital media newsgathering and social media sources with advanced, state-of-the-art technology.

Shep’s new program will provide viewers with the opportunity to become more involved with how news organically develops, according to Michael Clemente, Executive Vice President of News.

Shepard Smith is sometimes viewed as the most liberal of news personalities on FOX News. He joined the Fox News Channel at its inception in 1996. Previously, he’s worked for WJHG-TV in Panama City Beach, Florida, WCJB-TV in Gainesville, Florida, WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, WSVN in Miami, and as a reporter at WCPX-TV (now WKMG-TV) in Orlando.
