Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Schaumburg and Elk Grove Village responded about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026 to a report of a serious crash involving a burgundy Nissan sedan and two semi-trailer trucks on I-290 WEST / Illinois 53 northbound just south of Higgins Road.
The Nissan sedan was wedged underneath the front of one of the semi-trailer trucks on the right shoulder near the off-ramp to Higgins Road.
Initially it was unknown if this was an extrication crash.
