An act of hateful vandalism was discovered about 3:45 PM Friday May 29, 2026 at the Vail Avenue Parking Garage, 22 South Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights, Illinois. An unknown offender or offenders displayed a swastika on vehicle parked in the parking garage.
A resident of Dunton Tower reported to CARDINAL NEWS that on Friday, May 29, 2026 at approximately 3:45 p.m., a swastika was discovered written in the dust of a vehicle window at the Vail Avenue Parking Garage, 22 South Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights
The victim reported that when they walked to their parked vehicle, they discovered that someone had drawn a swastika in the dust on their rear windshield.
The victim also provided a photo showing the swastika written in the window dust.
An initial scan of crimes reported for the week of May 29, 2026 did not indicate a vandalism crime reported at 22 South Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights. CARDINAL NEWS was unable to inquire if the victim filed a police report because the tip to CARDINAL NEWS was provided anonymously.
In the United States displaying a swastika is a crime if the display is used to terrorize or intimidate. Many other countries, however, strictly outlaw display of Nazi symbols for any reason.
