Police, firefighters and paramedics from Melrose Park responded about 9:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 to a report of a shooting at an Amazon warehouse at 1825 5th Avenue in Melrose Park. Upon arrival police discovered one gunshot victim with fatal wounds, and worked to secure the scene and search for the suspect. Melrose Park Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Initially, no other injuries were reported.
The initial investigation indicates a dispute between two individuals escalated to gun violence. The gunshot victim died in surgery, according to the Melrose Park Police Department.
According to the police department, two bullet casings were located at the scene. Surveillance video is being analyzed to determine the identity of the suspect. The Melrose Park Police Department, the West Suburban Major Task Force and the Cook County Sheriff’s office are investigating.
As of early Thursday afternoon, the homicide suspect is at large.
At least 60 employees were at the Amazon warehouse at the time of the shooting.
