McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters and paramedics from Huntley responded about 3:57 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026 to a report of a rollover crash with injuries near Route 47 and Foster Road in unincorporated McHenry County near Huntley.
The sheriff said in an update that a Woodstock man was suspected to have alcohol and drugs in his system and was speeding, leading to a rollover crash that left him ejected and in critical condition near the Village of Lakewood and Huntley.
The crash was located approximately one-half mile east of Route 47 on Foster Road. When rescuers arrived, they discovered an adult male driver that had been ejected from a Jeep that was rolled on its side. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was possibly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Foster Road when the rollover crash occurred at a curve in the road. The driver, suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failed to negotiate a curve, and left the roadway in the Jeep Wrangler to the north side of the shoulder, where he struck several trees, rolled the vehicle, and was ejected.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was assigned to meet paramedics with the male crash victim, who was transported by ground ambulance to the Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital helipad. The LifeNet medical helicopter crew then transported the Woodstock man to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was treated for critical, life-threatening injuries.
Foster Road was closed in both directions between Route 47 and Conley Road during rescue and during an extended crash investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.
