The Village of Arlington Heights’ 107th Annual Memorial Day Parade, organized by the American Legion and Veterans Memorial Committee of Arlington Heights, steps off at 9:30 a.m. sharp. The parade begins at Arlington Heights Road and Sigwalt Street, goes west on Sigwalt Street, turns north on Dunton Avenue, turns west on Euclid Avenue, and south on Chestnut Avenue. (Parade map below.) The parade concludes at Memorial Park, where the Memorial Day Ceremony takes place, at 11 a.m. Following the Annual Memorial Day parade, there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony at Memorial Park, Fremont and Chestnut.

Memorial Day Ceremony: Memorial Park at 11 a.m.
At the end of the parade, the Memorial Day Ceremony honors and remembers all those who have given their lives for our Freedoms – especially Arlington’s Fallen Heroes – the 68 young men from our town who died in the service of our Nation from the Civil War through Afghanistan. At this Ceremony, a list of names of veterans who have passed away in the preceding 12 months will be read.
The 107th Annual Memorial Day Parade includes guest of honor and Medal of Honor Recipient Allen J. Lynch, who was awarded the nation’s highest military honor in 1970. Lynch was a member of the Army’s 1st Cavalry Division, who singlehandedly rescued three of his comrades, crossing a fire-swept field to drag them to safety, during the Battle of My-An in the Vietnam War. Lynch currently lives in Gurnee.
The parade also features approximately 90 members of the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Center honor guard and members of the 484th U.S. Army band, as well as the Buffalo Grove, Hersey and Rolling Meadows high school marching bands as well as the St. James School band.
Greg Padovani, who serves as chairman of the Arlington Heights Memorial Committee, describes previous dignitaries and honorees mentioning their Arlington Heights participation as a “Norman Rockwell experience.”
