Prospect Heights Man Found Dead Near Palatine Frontage Rd by Airport, Prospect Heights; Possible Hit-and-Run

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Prospect Heights responded about 9:00 a.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026 to a report of man down, unresponsive near 79 East Palatine Frontage Road, just south of Chicago Executive Airport in Prospect Heights. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Early investigation indicates John Folan, age 68, of Prospect Heights was the victim of a hit-and-run on the westbound side of Palatine Road. Specifically, the victim’s body was found near the Chicago Executive Airport viewing area at the south side of the airport where a small bleacher bench style grandstand is located to provide seating while people observe aircraft takeoff and landings.

Initially, there were no known individuals or vehicles connected to the incident.

A death investigation was active beginning Sunday, May 3, 2026 Prospect Heights police and the Major Case Assistance Team accident investigators. An autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiners Office is scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026.
