DuPage County State’s Attorney Bob Berlin announced Wednesday, April 22, 2026 that Judge Brian Telander has sentenced a Roselle man to forty-five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for shooting an innocent woman in the head in July 2022, at a Roselle restaurant. On September 30, 2025, following a five-day-long bench trial, Judge Telander found Jaime Quijano, age 26, formerly of the 200 block of Walter Drive, guilty of …
two counts of Attempt First Degree Murder,
one count of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and
one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm at a Person, all Class X felonies.
Quijano was arrested on July 16, 2022, and appeared in Bond Court on July 17, 2022, where he was denied bond. He has been held in custody at the DuPage County Jail since that time.
Roselle police officers responded about 12:21 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 to a call of shots fired at Bulldog Ale House located at 394 Irving Park Road. Upon their arrival, officers found a female in her 20s with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Following an investigation into the shooting, authorities learned that Quijano had become angry and began cursing at employees of Bulldogs at which time he was asked to leave. Quijano, who had become even more angered, then exchanged words with employees of the establishment before walking away from the bar to the exit. As he walked away, Quijano unzipped a black satchel that was around his chest and removed a loaded handgun. He then turned around, pointed the gun at the employees and fired. Quijano then pointed the pistol toward the bar and fired where several employees and patrons were seated and standing. He continued firing the pistol behind him as he exited the building and after exiting the vestibule he fired one last round through a glass door into the restaurant. Following the shooting, Quijano fled the scene on foot. He was taken into custody a short time later at his home where officers recovered a pistol and a 31-round extended magazine on the couch. Officers also found two live 9 mm rounds, one in Quijano’s pants pocket and another in the satchel he had been carrying.
“On July 16, 2022, Jaime Quijano fired eighteen shots into a crowded bar sending patrons scrambling for safety, leaving one innocent young woman in her 20s fighting for her life. This unconscionable act of violence not only nearly cost a woman her life, but also terrorized an entire community. Judge Telander’s forty-five-year sentence sends a crystal clear message that in DuPage County we have no tolerance whatsoever for senseless acts of violence such as what we saw in this case. Anyone who commits such a crime will quickly find themselves arrested, charged, prosecuted and if found guilty, facing a significant amount of time behind bars. We are all extremely grateful that the victim in this case is still with us today and wish her strength as she continues on her lifetime journey of psychological and physical recovery. I commend the Roselle Police Department whose quick response and outstanding police work led to Mr. Quijano’s apprehension just hours after the shooting. I also thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Nicole Wilkes-English and Jaclyn McAndrew for their efforts in proving Mr. Quijano’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and holding him responsible for this horrendous act of violence.”
— DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin
Quijano will be required to serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
