Police, firefighters and paramedics from Elk Grove Village responded Thursday afternoon, April 8, 2026 for an investigation of a missing person near a retention pond in the block of 700 Innovation Boulevard, where they later found the body of an Elk Grove Village resident, Alexis Ramirez, age 26.
Alexis Ramirez was involved in a single-vehicle crash about 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2026, near Higgins Road and Brennan Boulevard in Elk Grove Village. The crash scene was located less than 150 feet from two retention ponds at a newly constructed commercial building complex just south of Higgins Road and east of Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove Village.
The initial investigation indicates that Alexis Ramirez left the scene of the crash. The initial investigation and search indicated that the driver of the unoccupied, crashed vehicle was Alexis Ramirez, but following a K-9 search, and use of a drone, and underwater side-scan sonar equipment did not find Ramirez in the area.
An initial search of the retention ponds began Thursday morning, March 19, 2026, but a report came back by noon Thursday that the search did not find a body.
A second search discovered the body of Alex Ramirez in the east retention pond just before 3:21 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Initially, the cause of death was not indicated by authorities.
Elk Grove Village Police Department posted a missing persons alert on their official Facebook page on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, indicating that Alexis Ramirez was last seen at Higgins Road and Bond Street in Elk Grove Village about 8:00 p.m.
Bond Street (to the north of Higgins Road) intersects with Higgins Road at the same intersection where Brennan Boulevard intersects Higgins Road from the south. Brennan Boulevard is located between the two retention ponds that are located south of Higgins Road.
Alexs Ramirez was described by the Elk Grove Village Police Department as a 26 years-old, Hispanic, male, 5’10”, 155 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair; and a photo of Alexis Ramirez was included with the alert.
